ISO9000:2000
What is ISO9000:2000
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a
worldwide federation of national standards bodies. It has recently approved the
new ISO9000 family of standards that have been developed to assist organizations,
of all types and sizes, to implement and operate effective quality management
standards.
Organizations can be awarded the standard if they can
demonstrate to the assessors that they meet the details laid down in the documentation.
How can ISO 9000 benefit the
business?
Adopting the standard allows organizations to successfully
direct and control in a systematic and transparent way. It provides
a formal methodology that allows organizations to take a Total Quality Management
approach and is an alternative to other approaches such as the Balanced Scorecard
and the EFQM model.
Attaining the standard may be a requirement for any
contracts with certain organizations e.g. government departments, and can
also help companies as part of the risk assessment requirements laid down
in the Turnbull report. It may also help you comply with European Union
directives.
How we can help
We understand the different quality management approaches and
can help you assess which method is suitable for your organization. We can also assist
you in deciding on and implementing the changes that you may require to attain
the standard and put you in contact with organizations that will assess if you
meet the standard.
