What is Process Mapping

 

This is the documenting of business processes using formal procedures that allows an organization to see what is being done and  compare this against standards or best practice..

 

How can Process Mapping benefit the business

 

Process Mapping is an essential element of many management initiatives and allows organizations to:

  • see what is really being done in the company and ascertain grounds for improvements

  • demonstrate adherence to regulatory or legal requirements

  • show standards of working that allow the organization to gain recognition through EFQM and ISO9000 awards

  • allow benchmarking against other parts of your company and industry best practice

  • assess both financial and business risk to safeguard the business and so gain compliance with the Turnbull report requirements

Process mapping is not the most glamorous of businesses processes as it involves auditing, documenting and obtaining agreement on ways of working.
