Issue 1: The Company is growing and there seems to be a  perception of a lack of understanding between senior management and the staff as to where the company should be heading.

Issue 2: We know that a proper strategic management process will benefit the company but we do not have the time or the budget to call in one of the large consultancy firms.

Solution

MEC Services Ltd can work with you to prepare and implement a cost effective strategic management solution including the use of the Balanced Scorecard or EFQM model, if appropriate. However, we will not give you a prescription of what you must do and instead, by building on our theoretical knowledge and practical experience, we work in partnership with your team to devise and implement the strategic management process that is best for you.

The MEC 7 Step Strategy Preparation Process

Step 1

An initial discussion with the senior management team decides whether a strategic management process will be of value to the company and what form of assistance you need from MEC Services. If after this discussion you would like to proceed then we will undertake the other remaining steps in the process, where relevant, tailored to your requirements.

Step 2

We provide your senior management team with our 5-Day Business School Course (5DBS) that discusses the supporting theory behind strategic management and through case studies and practical session an opportunity to prepare a strategic plan for our fictional 5DBS organisation. 

Step 3

MEC Services can then facilitate a workshop where the senior management team has the opportunity to really start the implementation of the strategic management process. This will involve activities that include: External Environmental Appraisal, Internal Appraisal (SWOT), Strategy Preparation and Evaluation, Scenario Planning, Strategy Selection.

Step 4

Working with you at any level you wish, we will assist in the implementation of a strategic process for your organisation by running our 5-Day Business School course for other members of the management team or presenting versions of the course specifically tailored to your organisation. We can also provide courses that go into particular sections of the main course in more detail through a series of practical workshops.

Step 5

We will help you in the communication and implementation of your strategy using. if required, one of the tried and tested Corporate Performance Management Frameworks e.g. Balanced Scorecard, EFQM Model, including the implementation of any strategic IT systems.

Step 6

MEC services can help you assess the organisations level of understanding of the chosen strategy by conducting an organisational appraisal.

We can produce appraisals that fit any of the standard models or tailor one specifically to your requirements.

Step 7

The final step, following the successful implementation of the strategic management process, is the facilitation of a project review highlighting the lessons learned and discussing how these insights can help the organisation meet its other goals.
